Benriach The Original 10 YO
Aged 10 years in the favorite barrels of the distillery, it is the heart of its expression. Classic Speyside Malt, fresh, soft, aromatic, spicy and slightly fruity.
Alcohol: 43% - Aging: 10 years - No Chill Filtering
Maturation Casks: ex Bourbon, Virgin Oak, ex PX & Oloroso Sherry Casks.
Nose: A combination of fresh fruit and spices, with hints of citrus and mint.
Mouth: Flood of warm spices such as cinnamon and cloves tied with ripe fruit
such as peach and banana.
Aftertaste: Long finish of spices and vanilla.
A few words about the distillery:
Built by John Duff in 1898 Benriach's traditional charm distillery is located in the heart of Speyside. It uses water from the underground Burnside Spring that flows beneath it, barley from the surrounding crops and peat from the nearby hills. It produces whiskeys of different styles. After many difficulties of the first years the distillery was reborn in 1965 and has been consistently producing fine spirits ever since. It is famous for its own maltings floors, i.e. privately owned barley malting floors, from which it supplies other distilleries besides own needs. Since 2004, the company has started experimenting a lot with the spirits it produces, a fact which has made her a trailblazer in the industry, with several bold and unusual expressions for Speyside whiskey and countless prizes. In his dark cellars, are some of his best and most special barrels world, either to participate in the production line or to be used in experiments that go ahead of the whiskey market worldwide.
