Characteristics: Cashews were discovered in the 16th century by the Portuguese in Brazil and from there spread to the rest of the world. In the Greek market we find them all year round, imported from India and Vietnam. They are usually imported raw (and their color is white), fried (or baked) and salted and their color becomes golden. Cashews are rich in protein but contain saturated fat that increases cholesterol when eaten in large quantities, so moderation is needed in their consumption!
