Variety composition : Traminer Noir
This is an experimental wine and the latest creation of the patriarch winemaker Athanasios Papaioannou. The winemaking was done under the supervision of Athanasios Papaioannou himself and the researcher Mr. P. Zamanidis.
The variety "Thanasis Papaioannou" (synonymous with "Traminer noir") is experimental and was created by the method of hybridization at the Athens Vine Institute in 2007 under the supervision of researcher P. Zamanidis. It came from the crossing of the "Odeski tshiorni" variety (Cabernet Sauvignon x Alicante Boushet) with the "Traminer roze" variety.
It is distinguished for its high resistance to cold, drought and fungal diseases compared to other varieties of Vitis Vinifera (Zamanidis et al. 2012).
The variety is intended for the production of aromatic dry, semi-sweet and sweet intensely aromatic red wines and liqueurs. It can also be used to produce aromatic, intensely colored nutritious juices. "
